Caregivers Asha Society is India's first organisation dedicated entirely to the wellbeing and recognition of family caregivers. We started in 2019 — not from a boardroom, but from lived experience.
About us
Who stands for those who stand by others?
Caregivers Asha Society was founded in 2019 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan — born from a recognition that India's millions of family caregivers had no one standing squarely in their corner. These are the sons and daughters, spouses and siblings who quietly take on the full weight of caring for elderly parents, chronically ill family members, or loved ones with disability. They do it with love, but without training, support or acknowledgment.
What began as a community-level effort to offer guidance and recognition has grown into a multidimensional organisation — active in caregiver training, digital innovation, youth sensitisation, elder empowerment and policy advocacy. Today, CAS is represented on the WHO Civil Society Commission (2025–27), has trained and certified hundreds of community caregivers and trainers, and continues to expand its reach across India and internationally.

Caregiver Wellbeing
Addressing mental health, burnout prevention and emotional support for family caregivers through community programmes, peer networks and the CareAsha App.
Digital Empowerment
The CareAsha App puts AI-enabled caregiving guidance, health tracking, stress management tools and multilingual support directly into caregivers' hands.
Skills & Training
Training of Trainers, community health worker integration and certified skill programmes that build competence and confidence across the caregiving ecosystem.
Community Building
Creating peer support groups, carer networks and spaces where caregivers find connection, solidarity and shared knowledge — so no one is isolated.
Policy & Advocacy
Making caregiving visible in national health policy — advocating for legal recognition, social protection and a systemic framework that supports caregivers at scale.
Our founder
Founder & PresidentDr. Arvind Mathur
Dr. Arvind Mathur, an astute physician and popular teacher, has been engaged in teaching, clinical work and health research for over four decades. He started the Geriatric Clinic at MDM Hospital of Dr. S.N. Medical College, Jodhpur, in 2000, and has since dedicated himself to holistic care of the elderly — as a founding member and past President of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics, Editor of its journal, and a member of the national consultation that shaped India's National Programme for the Health Care of the Elderly. He is currently Director of the Asian Centre for Medical Education, Research & Innovation (ACMERI). His book on caregiving for the elderly has been published in three languages — English, Hindi and Tamil.
In 2019, while dedicatedly caring for his wife, Dr. Asha, Dr. Mathur founded Caregivers Asha Society in Jodhpur — a community platform, a voice and a movement for the family caregivers who hold up long-term care. Under his leadership, CAS has grown into a nationally recognised organisation with international reach, represented on the WHO Civil Society Commission.
